For the OG Beliebers: Remembering Avalanna Routh – Our First Mrs. Bieber

Today’s post is for my OG Beliebers, the ones who’ve been here since the beginning and remember one of the most touching stories in Justin’s journey: Avalanna Routh.


Avalanna was just six years old when she was battling a rare form of brain cancer. Despite everything she was going through, she had a huge, beautiful personality that touched everyone around her. While in the hospital, Avalanna decided she was going to marry Justin—well, at least a cardboard cutout of him. That moment went viral, earning her the nickname “Mrs. Bieber.”


Somehow, Justin and his team saw the story. Instead of just sending love from afar, Justin decided he had to meet this incredible little girl. On February 14, 2012, Avalanna’s dream came true. Justin flew her to New York, and the two spent the entire day together—playing games, taking photos, and just enjoying each other’s company. She radiated joy, even while facing something so hard.


Justin later tweeted about how inspired he felt by Avalanna, starting the hashtag #MrsBieber, which so many of us Beliebers remember. Over time, their bond grew stronger. Justin even brought her on stage as his One Less Lonely Girl, making her feel as special as she truly was.



Sadly, on September 25, 2012, Avalanna passed away. Just four days later, the Believe Tour began. On opening night, Justin dedicated One Less Lonely Girl to her, singing to a big screen filled with their photos together. It was one of the most emotional moments in Bieber history.


Avalanna wasn’t just a fan to Justin—she was his friend. Losing her broke his heart in a way that not everyone understood. But one thing is for sure: her light and spirit continue to shine through his music, his journey, and his heart.


A couple days ago marked the anniversary of her passing, and I wanted to take a moment to honor her. Avalanna, you’ll forever be remembered as the first Mrs. Bieber. 💜 We miss you, we love you, and we know you’re looking down on Justin, so proud of the man he’s become. He’s married to someone who loves him deeply and now has a beautiful family—something you would’ve been so happy to see.


Avalanna, you’ll never be forgotten. 💜
